I remember I was talking to a friend around a year ago who happened to be an Apple fanboy about Android compared to the iPhone. The only big disadvantage he could come up with was that Android lacked any good games. He had a fair point but games on Android have come a long way since then. This is a list of our top 5 android games.

1. Angry Birds (Free)

Some people may argue that Angry Birds is an over hyped game, but if a game has over 50 million users then it must a pretty decent game! or it is one of the most addictive games on the planet, which it is.

Developers description: “Use the unique powers of the Angry Birds to destroy the greedy pigs’ fortresses! The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the greedy pigs who stole their eggs. Use the unique powers of each bird to destroy the pigs’ fortresses. Angry Birds features challenging physics-based gameplay and hours of replay value. Each of the 225 levels requires logic, skill, and force to solve.”

2. Fruit Ninja ($1.21)

This game is simpler than Angry Birds, which takes some doing!. The aim of the game is to slash at fruit with your finger while avoiding the bombs. The more fruit you slash, the more points you get. Simple, yet very addictive!

Developers description: “Fruit Ninja is a juicy action game with squishy, splatty and satisfying fruit carnage! Become the ultimate bringer of sweet, tasty destruction with every slash. Swipe up across the screen to deliciously slash fruit like a true ninja warrior. With three games modes in single player and worldwide leaderboards using Openfeint, the addictive gameplay will keep you coming back for even higher scores.”

3. Game Dev Story ($4.90)

This is a fun simulation game where you manage your own game company. You have to decide on the type of game, who you hire, employee motivation, promotion and much more while you have to keep an eye on your profit. While I might have just done a successful job in making this game sound very boring, trust me its not!

Developers description: “Work hard and you may reach the top of the video game industry! Manage your own game company and try to create a million-selling game in this unique simulation. Features the ability to develop your company’s own game console, plus a system for changing your staff members’ professions. Your staff members can have a variety of game-related professions, from programmer to sound engineer. Work hard and you may reach the top of the video game industry!”

4. Galcon ($2.99)

Galcon is one of the best action strategy games on the market. The aim of the game is to defeat your enemy by dominating every planet on the screen. The game itself is very entertaining, the graphics are ok but the main appeal of this game is the online multiplayer function. The fact that you can battle thousands of other people around the world is what makes this game.

Developers description: “Galcon is an awesome high-paced multi-player galactic action-strategy game. Send swarms of ships to defeat enemy planets and conquer the universe! Online multi-player game lets you battle 1000′s of players worldwide!”

5. Reckless Racing ($4.99)
