Those of you who have an iPhone may know about an app called Instagram. It’s a simple camera app which lets you add Polaroid type effects to your photo’s. You can then instantly share your photo’s with your friends through social networks.

The reason why I say those of you who have an iPhone is because the app is currently not available for Android. The CEO of Instagram has promised that it is coming, but for the impatient types, which includes me, download Malome.

Malome has two main functions. The first is the ability to edit photo’s. You can take a photo directly from the app or choose one from your gallery. You can add one of many effects such as Vignette, Sepia, Sunset and Black & white.

Another function is the ability to share your photo’s. You can connect Malome to Twitter and Facebook and then easily share any photo with those social networks. You can also upload your photo’s to Molome so others can view, rate and comment on them.

An additional feature you might like is the public photo gallery where you can view the photo’s that others have uploaded. In my opinion, Molome users are just as creative and good at taking photo’s as Instagram users, which makes for hours of enjoyment.

Pros

  • Great interface – The app is very easy to use and looks great.
  • Many different effects – There are many different effects that you can add to your photo’s. All of the effects are very effective at making your photo’s look better.
  • Community – The photo’s in the public gallery are all very creative and are very interesting to look at. Users are also constantly rating and commenting on uploaded photo’s.

Cons

  • Public gallery photo’s slow to load – I found that the photo’s in the public gallery were sometimes slow to load, this could be very frustrating.

Conclusion

Android users have been waiting way too long for Instagram. We finally now have a very competitive alternative! Molome is a well designed app that makes taking good looking photo’s easier. It also makes photo taking on Android a more entertaining and social experience. Give Molome a go and you are likely to be very pleasantly surprised.
